Time to prepare for Festival

I know I haven't blogged for a week. It's not because I've been idle - quite the opposite in fact. After much thought we decided that we couldn't bear not to be at Festival of Quilts again this year. It's their 10th anniversary and we've been there every year since the beginning. Despite the fact that Laura will be as round as a beachball by August we have booked our stand and will endeavour to demonstrate each day. Until then we'll be working frantically to prepare. While Laura is pregnant I've taken over dyeing duty and am enjoying it hugely.

I may find it difficult to part with some of these fabrics!

Mind you, there should be plenty to go round.

As well as a mountain of charm squares.

Laura has just designed this apron print and will be offering it as a kit. My much used paint box has never looked so amazing.

Of course we'll have new work on display too. This is a detail of one of the latest pieces in the Moth series. Right now it's just a little sliver of insubstantial fabric waiting to be quilted.

This is an even bigger piece needing to be quilted too. May have to work a night shift to get everything finished in time!

Maybe it's because it's summer but I've been making rather colourful quilts lately. Not my usual dour palette at all.  Of course, stitch will transform them and add even more colour - I'll let you see how I get on as soon as there's something to show.

Thank you for dropping by. Please come back again soon. Linda

  5. Definitely would love one of the apron kits!! Please put me on the list for when they come out. And love the fabrics.

I was great to read about the Lana threads too! I have a variegated selection box but have been wondering if there would ever be a solids selection too.

  7. Fabulous fabrics and the apron!!! I love it!!! I think perhaps you might invest in some of the "caution tape" that they have for investigations and road hazards. With Laura's impending delivery, I see a crush of doting women wanting to come hug, pat, and embrace her. ;) Wishing you a beautiful weekend, even if you are working the night shift.

  8. Very glad you are going - it wouldn't seem right without you. Laura will have to prepare for an excess of attention and groping (in the nicest sense), plus lots of gifts for baby K I suspect ... may even get more attention than the quilts. I love the fabrics too - you must have been very very busy. See you there - x

  11. Thank you all for your lovely comments! We are looking forward to seeing lots of you at Festival next month. Do come and find us to say hello! For everyone who won't be there we'll make sure we take plenty of pictures and post them here after the show.

I'm pleased you seem to like the apron. Laura has sold a couple of kits already so I think it's going to be popular. I made mine up in less than an hour and it looks great. I'm sure I'll even start to wear it soon when I get over the worry of getting it dirty - I blame my mother for making us keep new things for best!!
